The Archeo Norico has a rich prehistoric and early historic collection, an extensive Celtic exhibition as well as an instructive collection on the development of historic cutting, stabbing and small firearms. In the old castle dungeon there is also a torture chamber which is very popular among the visitors. Another focus is the presentation of antique gold, silver and bronze jewelry from the times of the Celts, the Romans and the Byzantines.<\/p>\n
Contact:<\/strong> The exhibition \u201cDedications to the Gods – Cult Sacrifice Finds from Pre-Celtic Times\u201d shows unique find complexes consisting of up to 230 bronze objects (weapons, utensils and jewelry) that were sacrificed at holy places more than 3300 years ago. Another museum highlight is the special exhibition \u201cFrom forest glass to the first industrial glass – 3000 years of Styrian glass,\u201d established in 2009. \nSeveral times a year, temporary exhibitions of modern contemporary art are held in a specially adapted room, based on a generous endowment from Dr. Hellmut Czerny. It includes works by Jakob Wibmer and Alfred Co\u00dfmann, artists of particular importance to Deutschlandsberg, as well as works by contemporary Austrian artists.
\nIn 2003, the Archeo Norico struck a museum partnership with the Pokrajinski muzej (Regional museum) Celje in Slovenia. In addition to joint admission tickets, a folder was created to present the partner museums to the public accordingly.
\nThe museum publishes not only its own catalogs on its collections on display, for example on the topics \u201cCelts, Jewelry and Glass,\u201d but also articles on regional prehistory and early history.<\/p>\n
